Republic of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan (officially the Republic of Azerbaijan) is a country located in the eastern part of the Caucasus, on the shores of the Caspian Sea, is often considered a part of Asia Minor or the Middle East, and sometimes as a part of Eastern Europe. The population, as of January 2013, numbers higher than 9 million people, and the territory measures 86,600 км², making this the largest country of the Caucasus. Overall, Azerbaijan holds 91st place in the world according to population, and 112th according to territory.
Azerbaijan contains 66 regions, 12 cities under direct republic control, and one autonomous region – Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Azerbaijan is bordered on one side by the Caspian Sea, and also shares borders with Russia, Georgia, Armenia, and Iran.
