III World Nomad Games: facts and figures

Kyrgyzstan within international relations

  Kyrgyzstan laid the foundations for formation of an independent foreign policy course for Kyrgyzstan in “Declaration on State Independence of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan” right after the proclamation of independence on August 31, 1991.

  The Kyrgyz Republic has established diplomatic relations with almost 100 countries around the world. Embassies and consulates of Kyrgyzstan operate in 22 countries. The republic also has Delegations to the United Nations, international organizations in Geneva, the European Union in Brussels and the OSCE in Vienna.

    According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kyrgyzstan became a member of 77 international organizations, such as the United Nations (UN); the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); the World Health Organization (WHO); the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE); the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS); the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council); the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU); the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO); the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO); the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure; the Permanent Council of the Ministers of Culture of Turkic Speaking States (TURKSOY) and many others.

The opening ceremony

  The solemn opening ceremony of the III World Nomad Games will be held on September 2 at 8 pm at the race track in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region.

   The main goal of the Games is the revival and preservation of the culture of nomads, national sports in order to popularize the ideas of cultural diversity and deepen the dialogue of cultures. The Nomad Games helps to develop the tourist potential of the country.

    During the event a theatrical show of 1,500 people taking part in it will be presented. There are artists of various genres, including circus artists, a drama theater, ballet dancers, stuntmen, musicians.

    A theatrical show using the cutting-edge technologies will tell about the philosophy of nomads. In total there will be about 9 episodes with 70 scenes. The play is intended to link the idea of ​​a worldwide life of nomads with the unique heritage of the Kyrgyz people – the great Manas epic and the works of the great writer Chingiz Aitmatov.

   Further, the traditional parade of participants of the World Nomad Games will take place, this year along with the parade there will be sports delegations and representatives of artistic groups.

The mascot of the III World Nomad Games

    The snow leopard was recognized as a mascot of the forthcoming III World Nomadic Games.

   Since ancient times the snow leopard has been a sacred animal for the Kyrgyz people and has always been considered a defender of the warriors. The image of the snow leopard is covered with legends and tales, it represents beauty, strength and freedom.

  The nomadic culture of the Kyrgyz people is characterized by a special attitude towards wildlife and inanimate nature. Not only the history of the Kyrgyz people is connected with the image of the snow leopard, but also many famous literary works and films are devoted to it.

    The snow leopard is depicted as a symbol on the flag and the coat of arms of Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The number of snow leopards in the world comprises from 3,000 to 7,000 species. This animal is listed in the Red Book. Preservation of these unique animals, their ecosystems is a task of national importance and state scale for the Kyrgyz Republic.

   The author of the artistic image of the mascot of the III World Nomad Games is the art director and the animation director Tolgobek Koichumanov.

    According to him, the idea to recognize the snow leopard as a mascot of the Nonad Games is related to the importance of protecting this animal. Delegations will get special souvenirs in the form of a snow leopard as a sign of hospitality and respect to the guests of the III World Nomad Games.

The history of the World Nomad Games

   The First World Nomad Games were held from September 9 to September 14, 2014. 771 people from 19 countries took part in the Games. 30 sets of medals were raffled off in 10 sports competitions. The total prize fund was 16 million soms.

    The Second World Nomad Games were held from September 3 to September 8, 2016 in Issyk-Kul region. 1200 sportsmen from 62 countries of the world took part in the Games. Representatives of different delegations competed in 23 various sports. The total prize fund was 28,4 million soms.

   The Third World Nomad Games are held from September 2 to September 8, 2016. The program includes 37 different sports competitions: horse racing, horse riding, national types of wrestling, martial arts, traditional intellectual games, archery, national hunting "Salbourun". Today about 1 556 people from 66 countries of the world and 11 constituent entities of the Russian Federation applied for participation in the III World Nomad Games.  Heads of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Hungary confirmed the participation in the Nomad Games.
  This year Olympic champion Kanybek Osmonaliyev, Olympic silver medal winner Kanatbek Begaliyev, Olympic bronze medal winner Ruslan Tumenbayev, Asian Games champion Daria Maslova, winners of the Asian Games Aisuluu Tynybekova, Akjol Makhmudov, Kanybek Jolchubekov, Izzat Artykov and others will participate in the solemn parade of the III World Nomad Games.
In addition, ministers of culture, sports and tourism of a number of countries, heads of six foreign TV channels will take part in the World Nomad Games.
