The winners of pakhlavani

On September 4 the pakhlavani competition was held in the Sports and Recreation Complex of Baktuu-Dolonotu village (Issyk-Kul province). 48 sportsmen from 25 countries took part in the competition.

up to 70 kg:

1st place - Mohammad Naderi - Iran - 70 thousand soms;

2nd place - Kurbat Azizbayev - Kyrgyzstan - 35 thousand soms;

3rd place - Jalal Suleymanov - Azerbaijan - 17 thousand 500 soms;

3rd place - Arslan Serhat - Turkey - 17 thousand 500 soms.

up to 80 kg:

1st place - Omid Hassan Tabar Jelodar - Iran - 70 thousand soms;

2nd place - Parchat Biachimov - Turkmenistan - 35 thousand soms;

3 place - Ming Ganbaiyila - China - 17 thousand 500 soms;

3rd place - Aivar Khasanov - Tajikistan - 17 thousand 500 soms.

1st place - Jaber Sadeghzadeh - Iran - 70 thousand soms;

2nd place - Serik Beredmurat - Mongolia - 35 thousand soms;

For reference: Pakhlavani is a common name for the traditional wrestling in ancient Persia and modern Iran, which is the most revered sport in Iran and has a very ancient history.

The fight is a part of the traditional complex of martial arts of the Persians. The nationwide style of fighting in Iran is considered to be khoshti pakhlavani or, as it is also called, the style of "zurkhane".

The wrestling technique of khoshti pakhlavani is extremely diverse and represents one of the best examples of free wrestling.
